Hicks Thomas Welcomes Kevin C. Mrsny as New Associate

By Hicks Thomas LLP

Hicks Thomas LLP is adding former federal law clerk Kevin C. Mrsny as a trial lawyer in the firm’s Houston office.

Mr. Mrsny joins Hicks Thomas as an associate after clerking for U.S. District Court Judge David Hittner in Houston since last March. He also interned with Judge Hittner in the fall of 2021.

“We are thrilled to add Kevin to our team,” said Hicks Thomas partner John B. Thomas. “He brings a diverse range of skills and experience that certainly will benefit the firm and its clients.”

Mr. Mrsny is an Eagle Scout and Army veteran who graduated summa cum laude from South Texas College of Law Houston. He was inducted into the Order of the Lytae, the school’s highest academic honor, was a member of the varsity moot court team and participated in national advocacy competitions.

He has returned to the school as a bar exam coach and adjunct professor, teaching a class designed to help first-year law students improve their study skills.

While working under Judge Hittner, Mrsny was involved in a broad range of legal issues and all stages of criminal and civil litigation.

He also worked as a law clerk for the Houston firm of Shackelford, Bowen, McKinley & Norton in 2022.

Mrsny earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston, where he majored in construction management with a minor in business administration. He worked as a field engineer for Pulice Construction, managing highway construction projects, and as a land negotiator intern for ConocoPhillips.

During seven years of active duty in the Army, he rose to the rank of staff sergeant while training and leading soldiers in combat operations while deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. He also served as a victim advocate during his time in the Army.
