Veteran Houston Trial Lawyer Paul Mitchell Joins Hicks Thomas LLP Legal Team as Partner

By Hicks Thomas LLP

Hicks Thomas LLP is pleased to introduce Houston Trial Attorney Paul L. Mitchell as Partner of our firm’s legal team. Mr. Mitchell officially joined as Partner on July 1st, and brings a wealth of experience and insight to our firm’s established practice representing clients in matters involving oil and gas and energy litigation.

Mr. Mitchell is a veteran Texas trial lawyer who has cultivated widespread respect and a record of success over more than 30 years in practice. Over the course of his professional career, he has been recognized seven times by Texas Super Lawyers Magazine, a distinction earned by just 5% of all practicing lawyers in the state. He has also been profiled as “Litigator of the Week” by Texas Lawyer and holds an AV Rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

A former Partner in the Litigation Section and Trial Department of two of the oldest and most respected Texas law firms, Mr. Mitchell has honed his litigation abilities over decades prosecuting and defending cases involving oil and gas disputes, intellectual property, and business matters concerning fraud, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty, among others. He also has extensive experience providing tailored counsel to companies facing government investigations, regulatory scrutiny, and matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

By joining our team, Mr. Mitchell will be reunited with Firm Founder and longtime friend, John B. Thomas. Both attorneys served as law clerks in the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit between 1986 and 1987.

As Partner at Hicks Thomas, Mr. Mitchell will provide an invaluable depth of experience handling complex litigation in high stakes cases involving a diverse clientele of energy industry companies, from super-majors to smaller independents. His abilities and reputation and a tried and true trial advocate make him an indispensable asset to our firm and our clients, and provides more strength at the bargaining table.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Mitchell to the firm, and look forward to his continued commitment to providing exceptional support and representation to clients. You can learn more about his experience and representative cases on his attorney profile, or by contacting us to discuss a potential case.
