Aleza Remis is a seasoned trial lawyer and a former federal prosecutor with extensive experience in complex fraud, health care, and government investigations. She is known for her results-driven approach, navigating intricate laws and regulations while achieving successful outcomes in high-stakes litigation. A skilled communicator and strategic advisor, Aleza offers clear, pragmatic legal counsel that aligns with her clients’ goals. Her guidance is focused on delivering practical solutions and protecting client interests.
During her tenure at the United States Department of Justice, Aleza served as Assistant Chief of the DOJ’s Criminal Division, Fraud Section, where she led the Texas Health Care Fraud Strike Force. In that role, she personally handled and oversaw numerous high-profile, white-collar investigations and prosecutions, including complex health care fraud cases involving Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance fraud; the Anti-Kickback Statute; and prescription drug crimes. Aleza’s work also often involved parallel civil investigations under the False Claims Act. Aleza has tried and supervised numerous federal jury trials across multiple jurisdictions.
Aleza graduated from Vanderbilt University where she was a Chancellor’s Scholar, and with high honors from The University of Texas School of Law, where she served as Administrative Editor of the Texas Law Review and was inducted into the Chancellors Honor Society. After law school, Aleza clerked for the Honorable Gregg Costa of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has served as an Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas School of Law, where she co-taught a seminar on federal prosecution and defense and a course on federal criminal law.
