John B. Thomas Named to Board of the Forum on Law, Culture & Society in New York

HOUSTON – Attorney John B. Thomas, a founding partner of the Houston-based law firm Hicks Thomas LLP, has been elected to the board of the directors of the Forum on Law, Culture & Society at New York University School of Law.

Well-known to New Yorkers for its annual film festival, the Forum is a public humanities platform that hosts influential artists, public intellectuals, and leaders in the legal profession. Its mission is to connect these great thinkers and visionaries with the public in town hall-style conversations.

Among the Forum’s headliners are President Bill Clinton, activist and author Elie Wiesel, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and movie director Oliver Stone.

“It is a thrill to join the board of such a creative, forward-thinking organization where some of society’s biggest issues can be discussed in an engaging, thought-provoking way,” says Mr. Thomas.

A noted Texas trial lawyer who is ranked among the nation’s leading business litigators, Mr. Thomas has been associated with Forum Director Thane Rosenbaum for more than 25 years. He says he and Mr. Rosenbaum hope to broaden the reach of the organization, both demographically and geographically.

The Forum on Law, Culture & Society’s mission statement says it is committed to providing “a unique, engaging, and entertaining experience for both a public and online audience in examining the big ideas of our day, including matters of law, justice, human rights and civil society by bringing together influential artists, government officials and public intellectuals in a dynamic setting that is spirited, enriching and alive.”
