Jay Old, a highly regarded veteran trial lawyer, has joined the commercial
litigation firm Hicks Thomas LLP, where he will represent construction,
insurance, petrochemical and healthcare companies, effective January 1.
Mr. Old’s addition will also include the opening of offices in Austin
and Beaumont, further extending the geographic reach of the Houston-based
firm. Hicks Thomas, which is now in its 20th year, earned a reputation for being among Houston’s premiere litigation
firms, representing a multitude of clients in Texas and across the country
in complex litigation.
With Mr. Old comes five other lawyers from his firm, including seasoned
labor and employment attorney Jim Henges. Their clients represent a diverse
portfolio, such as refineries, construction contractors, manufacturers,
hospital systems and insurers.
“I like to say that I represent the job creators,” Mr. Old said.
Mr. Old not only has an illustrious career as an attorney, but is also
an active member of the legal community, and frequently speaks at continuing
education programs for lawyers. He is also a former president of the Texas
Association of Defense Counsel and chaired the Construction Law Section
of the State Bar of Texas.
A native of Beaumont, Mr. Old graduated from Texas A&M University and
the Texas Tech University School of Law. He is Board Certified in Personal
Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Adding to
his many accolades, Mr. Old has been recognized every year since 2005
on the Texas Super Lawyers list.
